About LiveIntent
LiveIntent is an ad-tech platform that monetizes email inventory the way a display network monetizes web pages. Its LiveTag technology inserts real-time, auction-priced ad units (native ad blueprints, IAB standard sizes, and custom formats) directly into a publisher's regular newsletter sends and into dedicated/rented sends, pulling demand from both direct-sold advertisers and programmatic buyers (DSPs and agency trading desks) through an email-based identity graph that lets advertisers target readers without third-party cookies.
Onboarding is consultative rather than self-serve: publishers apply, get a forecast of expected revenue, and go through setup that LiveIntent says can be live within about two weeks depending on program size. Neither LiveIntent's own site nor its publisher pages publish an exact minimum traffic threshold, revenue-share percentage, payout minimum, payment schedule, or payout methods — those are disclosed only after applying and talking to their team (third-party reviews commonly cite a rough monthly email-impression minimum in the low millions, but this is not confirmed on LiveIntent's own pages, so treat it as unverified).
Strengths: mature identity-based targeting that performs well as third-party cookies decline, fill from both programmatic and direct-sold demand, and support for one-off dedicated sends as well as ongoing in-newsletter placements. Weaknesses: opaque commercial terms until you apply, a consultative onboarding process that is slower than self-serve marketplaces, and a program that in practice targets publishers with a sizeable, consistently sent email list rather than small or occasional newsletters.
Best suited to established newsletter publishers and media companies with a large, regularly emailed subscriber base who want programmatic-style fill on top of (or instead of) manually selling sponsorship slots or dedicated sends themselves.
Pros
- Cookie-independent, identity-based targeting for email inventory
- Combines programmatic fill with direct-sold demand and supports dedicated sends
Cons
- No published minimum traffic, revenue share, payout minimum or payout schedule — must apply to find out
- Consultative onboarding aimed at larger, established newsletter publishers rather than small lists
