Monetization Case Studies: 1 Real Sites, Newsletters, Apps & Creators With Public Revenue Figures (2026)
Success stories with numbers: how real blogs, newsletters, podcasts, SaaS products, communities and creators make money, what they earn, the methods they combine and who pays them, each with a link to the public income report or interview.
Figures are what each owner or the press reported for the year shown; every case links to its source. They show what is possible, not what is typical: the RPM benchmarks and the calculator are the realistic planning tools.

Acquired by The New York Times for about $30M (2016); over $150M in referred sales in 20152016

What the case studies have in common
- Two or more methods. Almost every property here runs a traffic-scaled method (ads, affiliate) next to a trust-scaled one (products, memberships, sponsorships). One line pays the bills; the other makes the business.
- An owned audience. An email list or a paid community appears in nearly all of them, because it is the asset no platform can take away.
- Years, not months. The revenue figures are typically five to ten years after the first post, episode or commit.
- Public numbers. Income reports, open dashboards, interviews and acquisition filings. We only include stories with a citable source.
